We consider the nonlinear Schrödinger equation in the partially periodic setting $\mathbb{R}^d\times \mathbb{T}$. We present some recent results obtained in collaboration with N. Tzvetkov concerning the Cauchy theory and the long-time behavior of the solutions.

Resonance chains on Schottky surfaces - Weich, Tobias (Auteur de la conférence) | CIRM H

Recently David Borthwick discovered through numerical calculations surprising chain structures in the resonance spectrum of certain Schottky surfaces. In this talk we will see that theses resonance chains have the same origin as the resonance chains in the classical and quantum mechanical spectrum of the three disk system and we will see that they are related to a clustering in the length spectrum. Finally the existence of these chains will be proven for three funneled Schottky surfaces in a certain geometrical limit in the Teichmüller space. Joint work with S. Barkhofen and F. Faure.[-]

We consider short-range perturbations of elliptic operators on $R^d$ with constant coefficients, and study the asymptotic properties of the scattering matrix as the energy tends to infinity. We give the leading terms of the symbol of the scattering matrix. The proof employs semiclassical analysis combined with a generalization of the Isozaki-Kitada theory on time-independent modifiers. We prove a quantum Sabine law for the location of resonances in transmission problems. In this talk, our main applications are to scattering by strictly convex, smooth, transparent obstacles and highly frequency dependent delta potentials. In each case, we give a sharp characterization of the resonance free regions in terms of dynamical quantities. In particular, we relate the imaginary part of resonances to the chord lengths and reflectivity coefficients for the ray dynamics and hence give a quantum version of the Sabine law from acoustics.[-]

Soliton resolution for derivative NLS equation - Sulem, Catherine (Auteur de la conférence) | CIRM H

We consider the Derivative Nonlinear Schrödinger equation for general initial conditions in weighted Sobolev spaces that can support bright solitons (but exclude spectral singularities). We prove global wellposedness and give a full description of the long-time behavior of the solutions in the form of a finite sum of localized solitons and a dispersive component. Our analysis provides explicit formulae for the multi-soliton component as well as the correction dispersive term. We use the inverse scattering approach and the nonlinear steepest descent method of Deift and Zhou (1993) revisited by the $\bar{\partial}$-analysis of Dieng-McLaughlin (2008) and complemented by the recent work of Borghese-Jenkins-McLaughlin (2016) on soliton resolution for the focusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation. A microlocal toolbox for hyperbolic dynamics - Dyatlov, Semyon (Auteur de la conférence) | CIRM H

I will discuss recent applications of microlocal analysis to the study of hyperbolic flows, including geodesic flows on negatively curved manifolds. The key idea is to view the equation $(X + \lambda)u = f$ , where $X$ is the generator of the flow, as a scattering problem. The role of spatial infinity is taken by the infinity in the frequency space. We will concentrate on the case of noncompact manifolds, featuring a delicate interplay between shift to higher frequencies and escaping in the physical space. I will show meromorphic continuation of the resolvent of $X$; the poles, known as Pollicott-Ruelle resonances, describe exponential decay of correlations. As an application, I will prove that the Ruelle zeta function continues meromorphically for flows on non-compact manifolds (the compact case, known as Smale's conjecture, was recently settled by Giulietti-Liverani- Pollicott and a simple microlocal proof was given by Zworski and the speaker).
