What made you choose math? Let's talk about your first mathematical memories. What was your first encounter with mathematics? Let's talk about your research, which areas of mathematics do you focus on? Could you describe your first "Eureka moment" or the most memorable? The excitement of discovery and the enjoyment of understanding something new... You're the holder of the Jean-Morlet Chair just now. What were your main reasons for applying? What is the scientific content of your semester, which is jointly organized locally with Pierre Arnoux? What are the benefits of this semester for Aix-Marseille, the students here, other researchers and for yourself? Can you tell us about your plans after the Chair? Will there be a publication in the co-edition Springer Lecture Notes Series / Société Mathématique de France? Holders of the Chair are housed in the Jean-Morlet House for researchers. Résumé : Shigeki Akiyama is Professor at the Institute of Mathematics of the University of Tsukuba, Japan. A regular organizer of the annual workshop on quasi-periodic tilings at RIMS, he has also spent time as organizer or invited professor on several occasions in France (Paris, Marseille, Strasbourg) but also in Debrecen and at the Chinese University of Hong-Kong.
