Abstract : I will focus both on two specific examples, coral reefs and management of an invasive cordgrass as well as more general issues. The challenges will include understanding the time scales of responses that result from biological constraints, the presence of multiple objectives, the difficulty of dealing with tipping points, and the desirability of minimizing cost.
