Abstract : This tutorial gives an outline of how to describe orientations in 3D mathematically and the specific application for the measurement of orientation distributions of crystals in polycristalline material. Finally, it is applied to the specific case of X-ray diffraction and tomography, in particular the recently developed method texture tomography.
